Clairwood Hospital is a specialised government rehabilitation and convalescent hospital situated in southern Durban. In response to the global Covid19 pandemic, the hospital undertook to upgrade certain wards within the facility. The first of these was Block 1, which was targeted for Isolation purposes. Government facility Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital is located in Gauteng and has more than 1 000 beds available to service the surrounding communities. With the need for more Isolation and ICU ward areas required as the hospital readies itself for the expected increase of Covid-19 patients, Ward 567 was identified to be upgraded.
